Case Studies

Personal Injury
In a personal injury matter we dealt with a complex loss of earnings and pension fatal accident claim referred to us by solicitors who had taken the case over from another firm. The previous solicitors had submitted a loss of earnings and pension claim for £90K. Our calculation revised the claim to £280K and the case was settled at an overall figure of £328K

Professional Negligence
We acted for the professional indemnity insurers for an accountant facing a claim arising from a company valuation. Our report largely supported the accountant’s valuation and the case settled at the value we considered fair and reasonable.

Criminal Prosecution
We acted for the defence in the case of a solicitor charged with taking money from client accounts. We were able to show that the solicitor’s practice had been in severe financial difficulties before he took the firm over and that the monies taken from client accounts had been used to keep the business going. Our evidence was a significant contribution to sentence mitigation.

Proceeds of Crime
We acted for the defence in a case where the prosecution alleged assets had been acquired out of criminal proceeds. Our report demonstrated that the assets could have reasonably arisen out of legitimate earnings and the trial judge accepted our evidence.
