The Self-Employment Income Support Scheme

Tax Comments Off on The Self-Employment Income Support Scheme

The Self-Employment Income Support Scheme is now open for claims. If you’re eligible, you’ll be given a date when you can claim between 13 and 18 May. You can check your claim date online:

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/claim-a-grant-through-the-coronavirus-covid-19-self-employment-income-support-scheme

It’s important that you make this claim yourself, although you can ask your accountant or tax agent to help you. Please don’t pass on any of your information to people who may offer to make a claim on your behalf.

You will need:

  • the bank account number and sort code HMRC should pay your grant into
  • your Government Gateway user ID and password – if you don’t have an ID or password, or have forgotten your details, you need to set these up by searching GOV‌.UK for ‘Self-Employment Income Support Scheme’.

Please note that HMRC will calculate the amount of self-employment support you will receive; you don’t need to do this yourself.

Once you have made your claim, you will have your money within six working days.
